Amazon Community Development - Ecuador
Program Description
The Amazon Project takes place in and around the Amazonian town of Macas. The community hopes to develop a sustainable economic base by introducing micro enterprise tourism businesses run by local families. Volunteers wil help build an interpretive ecological trail near the school, rebuild a park impacted by recent road construction, and to create a micro enterprise tourism business for a local family.
Accommodation
Participants will stay in a local hotel four per room with all of the usual amenities and meals will be served at a local restaurant.

Rest and Recreation
Participants will explore the feasibility and logistical challenges of developing a mountain biking micro enterprise opportunity for a local family. The recreation day will be spent mountain biking from the Atillo Lakes in the highlands down through the Amazon Rainforest to MaCAS.
Service Program Fee
The One Week Program Fee is $696.00 per person the Two Week Program Fee is $1296.00 per person. This includes all in country transportation, insurance, accommodations, meals, bilingual guide, tools and equipment, project coordination, mid program recreation activities. (International airfare is not included.)
